Gastro Day Bike Tour Labin
(approx. 40 km, 450 m of elevation, level 1-2)

Discover the beauty of rural Labin and its local customs on a gastro day bike tour of Labin! After a short transfer from Bike Center Rabac to Labin, we will begin our tour at the Sculpture Park in Dubrova – an open air gallery with more than 90 stone sculptures.

Explore the countryside of Labin by bike, riding predominantly along wide forest paths and remote rural roads. The highlight of the day’s tour are the small, family-run farms that you will get to visit. Try delicious local specialties such as homemade Istrian sausage and goat cheese with truffles. Another specialty on offer is the extra virgin olive oil.

This tour is offered every Tuesday from April to October. Duration of the bike tour is approx. 5 hours.

Our meeting point for the day will be the Bike Center Rabac, at 8.30am. After a short transfer, we will reach the open air Sculpture Park in Dubrova, near old town of Labin, which has more than 90 stone sculptures. After a visit, we will begin our cycling tour along the low-traffic roads. The route is undulating and leads through the beautiful, lush, rural countryside of Istria.

While cycling we will see, and even feel, what everyday life is like in typical Istrian villages. Once we reach the village of St. Martin, which is the highest point of the biking tour, there will be a chance to relax a little bit and explore the old Pineta castle. It has been fully renovated and is now a tourist attraction and a small, family run bed & breakfast. Continuing the ride a short downhill leads into forest roads. This Istrian region is famous for its vineyards full of native Istrian grapes; Teran and Malvasia.

In the village of Jurazini we will have a break at a family run farm where we will be able to enjoy homemade cheese and prosciutto and taste some of Istria’s best extra virgin olive oil. From there, we will only have a few more kilometers to cycle before coming to the end of our ride in Dubrova. From here, our transfer vehicle will take us back to Rabac.

In total we will cycle approximately 40km and 450 meters of elevation.

This tour is offered every Tuesday from April to October. Duration of the bike tour is approx. 5 hours.

Price of 50 EURO/ per person includes:

• Collective transfer from Bike Station Rabac and back
• English speaking tour guide & tasting of local specialties
• 0,5L water & energy bar
  (children up to 13 years pay 36 EURO/ per person)

Price doesn’t include: 

• Bike rental 
• Lunch
• Drinks

Minimum number of persons: 3

Please bring the following:

• Money for lunch & drinks
• Medicine if you are allergic or asthmatic
• If desired, your personal bike saddle (it will be fitted to your rental bike by our guides)
• If necessary, a jersey or a T-shirt to change as well as a wind or rain jacket

Good to know
This tour is a moderate bike ride with some climbs and descents. A basic fitness level as well as the safe control of a bike are therefore presupposed.
