Gastro day bike tour from Poreč

Get to know the varied culinary side of Istria by bike. Try all the famous flavors of Istria! In the morning we will pick you up from your hotel and take you to Labinci; the starting point of our bike tour.

Along the way we will visit a beekeeper, where the sweet highlight of the day will be tasting some delicious honey products. After this, quiet side roads will lead us up to Vižinada, a small village nestled in beautiful, Tuscany-esque surroundings. After a tour through the picturesque town our bike ride continues along the Parenzana bike trail towards Rakotule where we visit a typical Istrian farm. Here we will have the opportunity to taste a variety of local foods, such as prosciutto, cheese, extra-virgin olive oil and homemade sweets.

From Rakotule we will cycle towards Višnjan where we may – depending on the season – have the chance for a truffle tasting before returning to the quiet side roads and heading back towards Labinci. From there, our transfer vehicle will take you back to your hotel. 

This tour is offered every Thursday from April to October. Duration of the bike tour is approx. 5 hours.

In the morning you will be picked up from your hotel in Poreč and transferred to the Bike Center in Labinci. Here, at around 10am, we will start to cycle along undulating, low-traffic roads. Along the way we will be able to catch a glimpse everyday life in typical Istrian villages. In the center of Kastelir town we will have our first stop at a beekeeper, where we will try some delicious honey products.

After the honey tasting, we will be able to take in the amazing view of the Mirna river valley and vineyards, where the best winemakers of Istria are located. Another 10km of cycling will then lead us to Vižinada where you are welcome to join us on a small guided tour through the typical Venetian town. Later on, we will continue on to the famous Parenzana railway track for a 5km stretch until we reach Motovun forest; the truffle kingdom. In Špinovci we will take a break at a typical Istrian farm for lunch. Here we will enjoy homemade food, wine and olive oil, accompanied by an amazing view.

Following the lunch break, a longer climb of 6km awaits us after which we will reach the main junction of the Roman road Via Flavia.  From here our bike ride continues through lavender fields. Once we arrive in the town of Višnjan we will take a photo break before continuing for the last 3km back to our starting point; the bike center of Labinci. Our transfer will then take you back to your hotel in Poreč. Arrival at the hotel is estimated at 3 pm.

Altogether, we will cycle 35km with a total elevation of about 470m.
