Učka MTB day tour
(approx. 40 km / 1,200 m of elevation, MTB level 2)

Ready to conquer some big hills? Učka, also known as Mount Maggiore, was proclaimed a Nature Park in 1999.

With its highest peak at 1,401 m, Učka is the largest mountain in Istria. This giant is located on the Adriatic coast at one of the most northerly points of the Mediterranean, right where Istria meets continental Croatia and covers a total of 160 square kilometers.

Because of its distinctive features, lush forest vegetation and particular climate, this mountain attracts nature lovers from all around the world. On this MTB day trip you will explore a true gem of Istria. Our morning transfer will take you from the BIke Center Labinci near Poreč to a tiny village, Poklon, where we will enter the Nature Park and start our MTB adventure.

On our tour we will encounter some amazing downhills as well as a number of ascents, old villages, forest roads and breathtaking views of the Kvarner Bay and surrounding islands. We will also enjoy a nice lunch break in Plomin; a typical, old Istrian village. At the end, we have a special biking treat along a flow trail, through the Bike Park Rabac and back down to the sea! 

This tour is offered offered on request all year round on any day of the week with a minimum number of 3 participants. Duration of the tour is approx. 9 hours.

Our meeting point is the Bike Center Labinci a few kilometres northwest of Porec. On request, we are happy to organise a free transfer between your accommodation and the Bike Centre (up to 10km distance, min. 3 participants).

From Labinci we then take a shuttle to Učka. It will take approximately 1,5 hours to reach Poklon, from where we mount our bikes and start cycling along a gravel forest road.

The road undulates through the glades of Učka for the first 6km until we reach Mala Učka (1000 m high peak). Afterwards we will be able to enjoy a 4 km long downhill ride with some sections of the road changing into a nice single trail.

For the next 5 kilometers we will ride along the spine of this mountain range. This is undeniably the moment for spectacular views on both sides! The next 5 km follow a long, beautiful descent through a stunning forest before reaching the start of a technical uphill.

Just before reaching our lunch destination, the old town of Plomin, another 5 km long downhill awaits us. Relaxed and fed we will then continue on. A final 2.5 km climb will lead us to the top of Mount Standard. From here we will be able to admire the view of Rabac, where our tour will end.

The final downhill track to the Bike Park Rabac is an incredible single flow trail – the only one of its kind in Croatia! Afterwards we will transfer you back to the Bike Center Labinci.

The total biking distance is approximately 40 km with 1200 meters of elevation.

Please bring the following:

• Biking backpack
• Money for lunch & drinks
• Medicine if you are allergic or asthmatic
• If desired, your personal bike saddle or pedals (it will be fitted to your rental bike by our guides)
• If necessary, a jersey or a T-shirt to change as well as a wind or rain jacket

Good to know:
This tour is a medium difficult MTB ride with some climbs and descents. A basic fitness level as well as the safe control of a bike are therefore presupposed.
